The bridge is located in the village of Bistrica, about 16 km from the urban center of Bijelo Polje. It represents a monument of Ottoman architectural tradition and the only connection between the village and the town.
There are numerous legends about the bridge: about the builder Proko, about three brothers, as well as the belief that it was built by Hajdar Pasha of Bihor during the construction of the mosque in Radulići.
Although the exact time of construction is not known, it is assumed that the bridge was built in the late 18th or early 19th century.
It was built of roughly dressed grey stone, while the archivolts were made of finely worked stone. The arch profile in the form of the so-called “donkey’s back” indicates an authentic Ottoman building style and the bridge’s distinctive silhouette.
