Archaeological research conducted in 1987 established that the Monastery of Saint Nicholas in Nikoljac was built at the end of the 14th and beginning of the 15th century. The church was known as a monastic center, famous for its manuscript copying activities. Of particular value is its library, which contains 84 manuscripts and 97 printed books, dated from the late 13th to the 19th century.
