REVALUATION OF CULTURAL PROPERTIES OF MONTENEGRO

The Ministry of Culture of Montenegro and the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Property launched a major cultural project for Montenegro – the Revaluation of Cultural Properties.
The Cultural Property Revaluation Project of Montenegro is one of the largest projects in recent decades. Most of the work, related to the creation of a high-quality documentation database that will improve and enable better protection of cultural assets, is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The project for the revaluation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage is important for determining the condition of movable cultural properties that were entered into the Register in the 1960s, with practically no changes made to their documentation since then. This is the first time that a systematic professional assessment of all parameters relevant to a cultural property is being carried out through an individual elaboration consisting of 16 chapters, for each movable cultural property in Montenegro.
The Regional Museum of Bijelo Polje also joined the implementation of this project, which runs until June 2014, and the tasks within it will be carried out by the museum’s experts: Željko Raičević, ethnologist and museum advisor; Zdravko Minić, historian and museum advisor; and Milisav Šćekić, ethnologist and senior curator.
